50+ YEAR-OLD USAA DOWNSIZING
CASUALTY’ REAPS REWARD FOR
COURAGEOUS CAREER CHANGE
Local woman financial professional recognized as one of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company’s (MassMutual) top five new-starts in the nation.
San Antonio, TX. September 4, 2008 – Diana Scheel*, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, FLHC, a lifetime resident of San Antonio and financial professional with Sapient Financial Group has won a prestigious, national financial services award. The MassMutual national “Freshman Five 2007” award is bestowed on the top five, of over five hundred, MassMutual financial professionals who completed their first year with the company in 2007, in recognition of their excellent business results and outstanding example as role models in their local regions.
Having held a position of Vice President at USAA in San Antonio, Diana found herself looking for work in 2005 after downsizing and restructuring ended her 31 year career at the San Antonio Corporation. “I felt devastated, lost and had no idea what I would do with the rest of my career,” said Ms Scheel. “My long-term goal had been to retire and find a way to help people.”
But rather than despair, Diana, in the twilight years of her career, took the courageous step to embark on a new career as a financial professional, working for Sapient Financial Group, a General Agency of MassMutual in South Texas. “Little did I know that my goal of helping people would be reached so quickly”, said Ms Scheel. “Finding Sapient Financial Group and becoming a financial professional was one of the best things that could have happened to me!” she added.
Ms Scheel puts her success down to, “Persistence, hard work, and building trusting relationships with my clients.” She says, “I go the extra mile in finding ways to help clients, even if it’s something totally unrelated to making a sale.”
“We are so proud of what Diana has achieved in the short time since joining Sapient Financial Group,” said Frank Woodruff, Sapient Financial Group’s CEO. “Today only 20% of all financial professionals are women***, yet women are increasingly becoming the key financial decision-makers in households and industry**. We hope to see many other women enjoy similar success through our company’s commitment to develop a female workforce that matches the potential client base.”
